Short version: it all stays on your phone
What is kept on your device
Your saved workouts, your history (including the reps and weights you log), your records (the most you have lifted for one rep), your settings, and a workout in progress so you can pick it up again. This lives in your browser's storage on this device.
What leaves your device
Nothing on its own. Only when you tap a button that says so:
· Share a workout — your phone opens WhatsApp or the share sheet with a link. The workout travels inside the link itself; we do not keep a copy.
· Share a result — the same: a message you can read and edit before you send it.
· Beta feedback — when you tap Send, your answers and the app version are sent to our own inbox on this site. That is all that is stored: no name, no email address, no workouts, no history, and you are never asked who you are. They are deleted automatically after 180 days. To stop one person flooding the box, the number of messages coming from an address in the last hour is counted through a scrambled one-way code that cannot be turned back into the address, and it is thrown away after an hour. If sending fails, the app offers to send the same text by email instead — that one goes through your own email app, to hello@nextoneapp.com.
· Backup file — Export writes a file to your phone. It goes nowhere unless you send it.
Like any website, the company that hosts this app records ordinary technical request logs (such as your IP address) when the page loads.
No tracking
No analytics, no tracking cookies, no advertising network, no third-party scripts. The "Ad space" you can switch on in Settings is an empty placeholder: it loads nothing and measures nothing. If real ads are ever added, you will be asked first and this page will say so.
Filming a set
The REC button asks your browser for the camera, and your browser asks you. The camera then only looks — nothing is recorded until you press START. While it runs, the picture stays on this phone: it is drawn into a video together with the clock, and when you stop, the video is kept in this app, on this phone, next to the set it was made during — you can watch it again from History, send it from there if you want to, or delete it. Nothing is uploaded and there is no copy on any server. It lives in your browser's file store for this site, so clearing this site's data deletes your videos too, and Settings says how many there are and how much room they take. The recording stops by itself when the set ends. If you never press REC, the camera is never asked for.
A heart rate strap
If you connect one, your browser asks you which strap and then reads it directly: the beats go from the strap to this phone and nowhere else. Nothing is uploaded, no account is involved, and the app never sees any other Bluetooth device — only the one you picked. Disconnect, or close the app, and it stops. Without a strap the number on screen is a simulation, and it says demo beside it every time.
Putting the timer on a television
Off unless you switch Second screen on in Settings. When you do, the television shows a number, you type it on the phone, and from then until you stop, the phone sends the workout and the clock — the exercise names, the reps and weights in it, which set you are on, and the times — through the same provider that carries a coach's plans (Supabase, in the EU). It is not stored: it passes through to whatever screen is listening on that number and is gone. Your name, your history and your clients are not sent, and the television cannot control the phone. The number is new every time and only the first screen to answer it is used. If you never switch it on, nothing of this happens.
If you sign in as a coach
Everything above describes the app as it comes. There is one thing that cannot be done by a phone on its own: sending a plan to somebody else. If — and only if — you open Settings › Coach account and sign in, then from that moment: your email address is held by our hosting provider (Supabase, in the EU) so we can recognise you; the clients you create and the plans you assign them are stored there too, because that is what lets them arrive on another person's phone. Your own workouts, your history and your settings are not uploaded. Signing out stops it; ask us and we delete the account and everything in it. If you never sign in, nothing on this page changes and nothing leaves the phone.
A client you send a plan to does not need an account. Their link carries a long random token and nothing else — no phone number, no name, no notes in the address. What they can read is only the workout and the note you wrote for them; anything you write for yourself stays on your side.
Your data is yours
Settings › Your data › Export saves a backup file; Import brings it back. Clearing this app's browser storage deletes everything for good — there is no copy on a server to restore from.
Reporting a problem
The Copy technical info button on the feedback page copies version, browser and screen details only — never your workouts or names. You choose whether to paste it.
